San Marcos

The city of San Marcos is located in San Diego’s north county. It sits to the east of Carlsbad, to the north and west of Escondido, to the southeast of Vista and northeast of Encinitas. It covers two zip codes – 92069 (north of the 78 freeway) and 92078 (south of the 78 freeway). Check out the map below for more details on the location.

The community’s mix is rural, suburban and urban. It is home to both Palomar  College and California State University San Marcos and the locally-famous Old California Restaurant Row, which features 15 restaurants as well as other small shops and businesses. San Marcos has a wide-range of housing options from small condos starting near $100K, detached homes from $400K-$700Ks, up to custom and semi-custom homes in the $1.5M-$2.5M range with ocean and mountain views. There are also mobile home parks and several senior communities and the community of Lake San Marcos. San Marcos residents are a part of the San Marcos Unified School District.

San Elijo Hills (92078) is a master-planned community in the southern section of San Marcos that was developed during the 2000’s with a classic town-square, mixed-use housing, parks, walking trails and lots of shopping options. It was designed so residents could enjoy a close-knit feel and walkable lifestyle. Home prices range from the $200Ks to the $900Ks.
