A lot of people I speak with automatically assume that it is never a good time to sell a home around the holidays. It is understandable why. The thinking goes, home sellers can’t be bothered with showings because their homes are decorated and they are planning holiday gatherings, etc. Better to wait until after the holidays and re-list, etc. That’s fine, but the data paints a different picture.
In December of 2009, 47 homes were sold – more than any month in the previous 24 months, and so much more than any month before and after that month. The point is, rely on actual data when researching real estate, not folk lore or your “expert” neighbor or friend who knows a lot about real estate. Call a REALTOR – me! – if you want to look at the comparable sales data in your neighborhood.
